My name is Shane though my friends call me Fraggle, I have been on DeviantART since 2003. I am a professional writer that specialises in Song Lyrics, Film, TV Scripts & Treatments. I am an Amateur Photographer & not that it can be tasted here but I am also a qualified Trade Chef & food is a very serious & massive part of my life.

I have worked with NIИ & its professional community on various projects for over 15 years & continue to do so supporting Trent Reznor & his growing endeavours & multifaceted projects that are in constant development including Art Is Resistance, Year Zero HBO TV Series & Project Nothing.

All The Answers You Want Too Know

I have been bombarded with questions about NIИ since I returned from the tour a few days ago, What’s happening to them? Why did Trent end the band? Does Trent hate us? Will NIИ play again in my town? Will Trent marry me & other slightly absurd yet amusing questions from fans that just want to know what’s really going on.

OK, here are all your answers straight from the horse’s mouth (The horse’s mouth in this case played exclusively by Michael Trent Theodore Sasquatch Jedi Mind Tricks Chicken Sandwich on Rye Bread Reznor)

Nine Inch Nails is NOT breaking up, for this to happen Trent Reznor would have to be ripped apart & sent to the four corners of the Earth, please understand, Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor, yes in the form of the live band there are other member but the actual entity that is Nine Inch Nails is completely owned & controlled in ever facit by Trent, so… with that being established lets continue.

Trent Reznor in 2002-2003 had just returned from some pretty awful rehabilitation treatment due to alcoholism & drug substance abuse. At this stage Trent had no plans to ever rebirth NIИ in any forms but Trent being Trent he refused to let personal issues get in the way of the bigger issues, with the main one being the dedication & love he has for all his fans.

[and while I am on that subject, Trent Reznor is honestly so appreciative of the love & support he receives from fans around the world, he really cares about the inclusion of you all in his world, I would not have anything to do with someone that doesn’t share the same respect and admiration for his fans as I would my own in such a situation]

Getting back to it… In 2004 With Teeth was released, I remember him being scared shitless, such a rare emotion to witness from Trent but yet he was like a teenage on a first date, everything was new & for the first time in memory Trent was alone, sober, drug free & in many ways naked to the world & it scared him.

But fans flocked to his side again, he was honestly in shock from the response he received and because of all your support he went on a musical exploration of sorts, taking his studio on the road with him feeding it every moment he wasn’t dealing with other business at hand.

Soon after Year Zero graced our ears & the revolutionary movement Art Is Resistance was born, fans around the world embraced this movement & supported Year Zero in again ways Trent never believed would happen. After a brief break from touring over a 3 week period Ghosts I-IV was born, a dream that Trent had always wanted to do, shortly after that The Slip was released & Nine Inch Nails were catapulted to musical godliness.

To add to this Trent had also told his record label [Interscope Records] to basically go fuck themselves in many wonderful ways and for good reason, that being they have no idea how to relate to musicians or music lovers anymore, they are stuck in their ways & this was not the direction NIИ or Trent wanted to travel in sooooo… Trent was flying solo with his pants around his ankles (so to speak)

Trent then had to become more than a musician, but a businessman, manager, producer, advertiser & still wake up to realise he had millions of fans hanging onto his ever move (that’s a lot of pressure to deal with, even for Trent Reznor)

So, after putting together his all time dream live experience (live tour: Lights In The Sky) which was physically & mentally draining for him he only a few weeks ago announced that NIИ will go on a long hiatus. This in no way means NIИ or Trent is quitting the music industry, but it does mean his duties as a touring musician are taking a back step for a period of time.

Trent himself has absolutely no plans to just sit in chairs & let the spiders spin webs upon him, as before mentioned, Trent has another 5 volumes of Ghosts he wishes to write, atleast 1 completed studio album (which is absolutely amazing by the way) to still release in the very near future, some solo works & projects he wants to get involved with & the big one, Year Zero the TV show set for a 2012 premier which Trent has already signed on to co-produce & perform as the musical director for the show so, you got it, a lot more new Trent Reznor related music for all of us to drool over.

Trent has been going full forward since 2004 with very little downtime in-between considering all the work he has to do. My point is & this is an important one, Trent is in some ways burnt out, he needs to relax, get back a life somewhat, find the man that is Michael Reznor. To do this NIИ needs to take a holiday, its not a big ask, its just a request to please wait and be patient, Trent has absolutely no plans to destroy NIИ, its his baby, his mistress of sorts, he is not killing it, infact he is saving it by taking a break from it.

So for those of you lucky enough to have NIИ touring in your area for these last dates in 2009, please make the most of it, show your support to a man whom has dedicated his life to music & making the industry better for himself & generations of musicians that will one day place Trent Reznor in the musical greats such as Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, David Bowie etc. and yes NIИ posted a whole bunch of new tour dates for the USA so go to nin.com & see where Trent can be found starting in May.

This is a very exciting time. I promise this is not the end. Only the beginning!
